What is Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer’s is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the buildup of abnormal protein deposits (amyloid plaques and tau tangles) in the brain. It leads to gradual loss of memory, thinking skills, and the ability to perform everyday activities. It is the most common cause of dementia in older adults.

Why is it important?

Alzheimer’s affects millions worldwide and places a heavy emotional and economic burden on families and healthcare systems. Early changes in memory and cognition are often the first signs, making awareness and early intervention key to planning care and maximizing quality of life.

Alzheimer’s and Cognitive Decline

In Alzheimer’s, short-term memory and new learning are impaired first, followed by progressive decline in language, reasoning, and procedural memory. As the disease advances, long-term memories and basic motor skills can be affected. Although there is no cure, interventions can help slow symptom progression.

How the Memory Training App Can Help

The Memory Training App offers regular, structured exercises to engage attention and memory pathways—tools shown to support cognitive resilience. While it cannot prevent or reverse Alzheimer’s, consistent mental stimulation may help maintain function longer, support daily routines, and enhance quality of life for those in the early stages.
